Borrowing resources from the Library

College card

When you enrol on a course at the College you will be entitled to use the Library using your College card. To avoid disappointment please have it with you whenever you come to College as you do need it to borrow resources and use computers.

If you lose your card, you will need to replace it at a cost of £1.00. Remember also that you are responsible for any material borrowed against your card and that it is valid only for the length of the course you are enrolled on.

Borrowing

You are entitled to borrow from 4 to 10 items (depending on your course) at any one time.
All material will be stamped with a date when we issue it to you. Bring the item to the Library counter to be issued.

Renewing

You may renew an item provided it has not been reserved. You may renew:

  • by telephone (01284 716216/267)
  • online (on the Library catalogue)
  • Or in person

For stock control purposes, we must see any book after 4 renewals. If material has not been returned, a reminder will be sent to you. An account asking you for the replacement cost will follow three weeks later. Fines will continue to incur. Please remember that resources not returned need replacing, which means less money for new resources.

Fines

3 week loan 10p per day if overdue
1 week loan 20p per day if overdue
2 day loan £1 per day of overdue (unable to reserve & only 2 at a time)
Journal loan £1 per day if overdue

Reference books may only be used in the Library. You may borrow DVDs and videos for 1 week at a time.
